Make Tangible Progress with Meditation – Results not Faith

Progress with Meditation

I was a novice meditator making little progress with meditation when I was introduced to the Microcosmic Orbit. I define “novice” as sucking at it at an unprecedented level. This means hearing tons about the benefits of meditation but sitting around, not knowing what I was doing, not getting any benefit, and berating myself for it.

Then I heard about this style of meditation where you could actually feel energy inside of you and move it around. This was exactly why I studied tai chi. I was attracted to the tangible physical nature of it which has always been my mode of learning.

Not (and I mean NOT) doing something based completely on faith, hoping that you are improving and doing your body some good. I mean incrementally seeing and feeling progress, just like if you were getting in shape, learning to cook, anything.

The promise of studying the Microcosmic Orbit is that if you diligently concentrate on points along the back you can feel energy there and then connect them one-by-one until you come over the top of the head to the roof of your mouth. Then you work on the points going down the front of you until you return to the belly.
When all of these points are connected, you can zip energy around this loop (orbit) like a toy car on a race track. You can also expand the sensation into your arms and legs – Bananas, I know, but this is real progress with meditation.

Then, you can expand the energy to a radius greater than your body. Bananas and Pajamas!

But, dear readers, as nuts as this sounds. It’s true. And moreover, if you are serious about your internal development, you have to pursue this. You must pursue this. The world needs the YOU that is on the other side you making this progress. Your family needs this person that you will become. You do. We all do.

Progress with MeditationHere’s where it gets exciting. If this sounds overwhelming, it is. But all you have to do is focus. Focus on one point at a time. Moving from your belly – Dan Tien. To your back. To the top of your head. To the point between your eyebrows.
Enough has been written about the Microcosmic Orbit for you to read about it and make progress. There are also people teaching it around the world, in online courses, and at live events. By far, I feel that this is the best system that we have available to us for internal development. So check it out.

A Blueprint for Progress with Meditation

In the next two posts I would like to add to the conversation because I struggled to understand and feel the different points along the orbit. The majority of the information out there is either 1) esoteric or 2) meant for acupuncturists who have a higher level of education on this topic. So, across the next two posts I will publish my notes as we take a fascinating trip around the body.

Even if you are solely a tai chi practitioner you will benefit from a better understanding of these reservoirs that you are cleaning and filling with your tai chi practice.
